1<\/sup> O God, have mercy on me,
\nfor people are hounding me.
\nMy foes attack me all day long.
\n2<\/sup> I am constantly hounded by those who slander me,
\nand many are boldly attacking me.
\n3<\/sup> But when I am afraid,
\nI will put my trust in you.
\n4<\/sup> I praise God for what he has promised.
\nI trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
\nWhat can mere mortals do to me?<\/div>\n
5<\/sup> They are always twisting what I say;
\nthey spend their days plotting to harm me.
\n6<\/sup> They come together to spy on me\u2014
\nwatching my every step, eager to kill me.
\n7<\/sup> Don\u2019t let them get away with their wickedness;
\nin your anger, O God, bring them down.<\/div>\n
\n

8<\/sup> You keep track of all my sorrows.
\nYou have collected all my tears in your bottle.
\nYou have recorded each one in your book.<\/p>\n

9<\/sup> My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help.
\nThis I know: God is on my side!
\n10<\/sup> I praise God for what he has promised;
\nYes, I praise the Lord<\/span> for what he has promised.
\n11<\/sup> I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
\nWhat can mere mortals do to me?<\/p>\n

12<\/sup> I will fulfill my vows to you, O God,
\nand will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.
\n13<\/sup> For you have rescued me from death;
\nyou have kept my feet from slipping.
\nSo now I can walk in your presence, O God,
